Anti-Social Glasses A wearable social filter.
A wearable that reacts to nearby speech by squirting water, creating a playful physical boundary when the wearer does not want to interact. The glasses act as a social filter they respond to the presence of conversation without needing to know who is speaking or what is being said. They detect speech, not meaning.
What You Built
We built the Anti-Social Glasses, a wearable prototype designed to act as a physical social filter. It integrates a speech-detection sensor with a small, controlled water-spraying mechanism that physically enforces the wearer's boundaries with a playful, exaggerated squirt of water.
How It Decides
The system decides to act based strictly on voice-activity thresholds. It monitors the surrounding environment for the physical presence of nearby speech. When a person speaks close enough or loud enough to cross the set threshold, the glasses automatically trigger the spray and abruptly pause the interaction.
What It Does Not Know
- The meaning: It does not process language, context, or what is actually being said.
- The speaker: It does not recognize who is talking.
- The intent: It operates without any understanding of the social nuance behind the approach.
The device strictly detects the audio signature of speech, proving exactly how little context a device needs to act on your behalf.
